The Throwaway War

Synopsis
The Throwaway War addresses the drug epidemic in a way that effects a shift in the viewer’s awareness: a shift from focusing on problems, despair, and blame, to focusing on solutions, social catalysts, and the parallels shared among all lives. It follows the daily struggles of a few formerly incarcerated drug offenders as they valiantly attempt to turn their lives around. The subjects, many of whom have beat the odds to make it, demand comprehensive reforms in which non-profits and cooperatives improve lives and directly serve the common good. This ambitious documentary asks us all to reexamine the drug war debate by asking a simple question: How do we reduce the harm that drug abuse causes on our society? It provides a promising look at what we can do–if we choose.
